What is Scar Release Therapy?
ook bekend als Litteken Therapie of Litteken Behandeling

Scars are universal and take on many forms: surgical, broken bones, sprained joints, torn muscles, inflammation, and/or any areas that are injured with trauma. We all accumulate scars throughout our lives, and they impact our bodies in many negative ways. Center for Pain & Stress Research has developed a patented Scar Release Therapy (SRT) - a safe, clinically tested and proven solution. SRT is simple, painless to apply, and is highly effective in reducing the negative influences of scars. Available at Free Spirit Acupuncture NL in Hoofddorp, serving patients from Haarlem, Heemstede, and the greater Amsterdam area.

Scars and related adhesions often compress nerves, affect muscle function, change energy flow, and affect blood and lymph flow through the affected area.

This unique treatment can help:

  1. Speed up the healing process of the scar

  2. Decrease pain in the connective tissue

  3. Help to relax and fade scar tissue

SRT uses the latest advances in science to address both chronic pain and dermal scarring after any trauma or surgery. SRT applies Microcurrent Point stimulation, a patented solution that is based on the scientific concept of increasing skin’s inter-cellular metabolism, protein synthesis and healing functioning to re-awaken the skin’s ability to self generate. By targeting direct cellular stimulation of microcurrent waves through the scars, this simple and discomfort-free procedure works by reducing dermal trauma, adhesions and fascia restrictions – proven to deliver 73.2% pain relief after a single application. (IJCAM 2017).

How does Scar Release Therapy work?

The technique involves the simultaneous application of a safe, low-level electrical impulse to each side of the physical scar. The microcurrent helps to relax and fade scar tissue, which can impede the functioning of muscles, fascia, and cause pain — including pelvic floor dysfunction in postpartum patients. This speeds up the healing process by reducing restrictions and adhesions in the connective tissue.

The appearance and mobility of scars can improve after only one treatment session! Frequently treated scars include C-sections, mastectomy, breast augmentation or reduction, laparoscopy, skin lesions, and other post-surgical or trauma scars. No matter how old the scar is, significant physical changes are common.

The number of sessions is determined by the depth and healing capacity of the scar. Annette will provide guidance on treatment frequency during your first appointment in Hoofddorp.

Dolphin Neurostim before and after

What to expect during your
Scar Release treatment:

We begin with standard acupuncture points to help your body relax and promote optimal energy flow. Once these are in place, we proceed to the MPS Scar Release Therapy. Microcurrent from the Dolphin MPS unit is applied directly to the scar — a discomfort-free procedure that typically lasts 15–30 minutes depending on the surface area being treated.

Scar tissue and adhesions can be released in as little as 2–3 visits, with significant improvement in appearance, color, soreness, and tissue mobility usually visible within 1–3 sessions. C-section scar release often has the added benefit of improving pelvic floor function and reducing abdominal numbness or tightness.
